Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all peoples. {Psalm 96:3}

     Ever since I can remember I have felt called to work with children. Seeing the joy on their faces and hearing their sweet giggles warms my heart. My passion for children has led me to pursue a career as a teacher and I am more than excited for when that time comes. I set my goals and was determined to finish college in four years and then find a job working at a school. However, God had other plans.

      God started putting missions on my heart last year and even more so this past December when I spent a week serving at an orphanage in Haiti. I began to feel overwhelmed as I thought about the number of orphans in the world. I couldn’t help but think of all the children with no family, no clean water, no food in their bellies, and often times no shoes to walk in. As I thought about all of that, I continually kept hearing God say “Go.”  “Go where?” I thought, “Out of the country? I can’t do that. I don’t have time! I haven’t finished college, I haven’t graduated, I haven’t fallen in love, I haven’t even had a real job yet. How could I just leave everything behind and go?” The more I prayed about it the clearer God’s calling was for me. I had no idea what was going to happen from there and I was terrified!

      Since then, God has opened the doors for me to travel to Kampala, Uganda this fall and serve as a volunteer missionary for roughly four months. I am SO excited for this adventure but also very nervous and scared. With that being said, I need your help. I ask for your continuous prayers for the beautiful Country of Uganda and for every child, as well as adult, that I may encounter while there. I also ask that you pray for me. Pray for my heart to be open and willing. Pray that the Lord uses me to reach others and make a difference in Uganda.

      I also ask that you prayerfully consider supporting me financially. Any donation would be greatly appreciated and used toward the Great Commission. You can donate on this page or by mail to Sozo Children (address listed below). Thank you for being faithful servants and laborers for Christ. I appreciate each and every one of you and am so grateful for you! Thank you for joining me on this adventure!

Joyfully His,
Lizzy Bodkin

ABOUT Missionary

Sozo Missionaries fuel the drive behind the on-ground Uganda work. They are considered facilitators. Since we have Ugandan staff in place raising the children and caring for their immediate needs, the missionaries are needed to assist those workers and invest in the children. They work alongside local Ugandans, inside Sozo homes and in outside communities, to further the gospel and represent Sozo Children.
