Here's a fun opportunity to make a difference for some pretty amazing African children!

My name is Tonya Southwick. In May I will return to Uganda with Sozo Children, a non-profit organization operating multiple children's homes, with a plan to provide this vital community with their first piano keyboard! Beautiful, musical Sozo children are eager to learn to play! Access to a keyboard will enhance the children's education, teach new skills, and provide a blessing for their community, including their village church.

DID YOU KNOW? THERE ARE 2.7 MILLION VULNERABLE CHILDREN IN UGANDA. BECAUSE OF WAR, DISEASE, AND DEEP POVERTY, OVER HALF THE POPULATION IS UNDER THE AGE OF 15, MAKING IT THE SECOND YOUNGEST NATION IN THE WORLD.

On May 13th, 2010, Sozo Children was born out of an immediate need to take seventeen children from suffering circumstances in Uganda, Africa. Two missionaries found children neglected and hungry. When they discovered rats biting these children's feet at night in their current living situation, they knew something had to change. Ten days later with the support of the Ugandan government, a new family-style home was created for them including Ugandan mothers and fathers, and a vision to disciple them into the next generation of Christian leaders.

Today, Sozo Children operates multiple children's homes in Uganda, providing care for over 120 children. “Sozo” is a Greek word that means to save, to keep safe, and to rescue from harm. Through a continuum of care provided by a team of Ugandan caregivers, the 121 children of Sozo are loved, nurtured, and equipped with proper nutrition, healthcare, quality education, spiritual development, and life skills to impact positive change in their communities and Ugandan society.

**Please note: This fundraising page includes my trip costs, however, your donation goes directly to the purchase of keyboard(s), bench, stand, pedal, and amplifier for Sozo Children, which I will purchase in Kampala, Uganda.

ABOUT 2019 Teams

Through short term missions, Sozo Children offers an avenue to those passionate to serve and be the hands and feet of Christ on the mission field. The teams will be traveling to Uganda to serve vulnerable children while investing in the surrounding communities. Each team member will be stretched physically, spiritually, and emotionally while we explore the unique relationships found in the body of Christ.

Please note: A team member will be credited 97 percent of credit card payments. Three percent is decucted to cover credit card fees. Likewise, an e-check payment will be deducted $0.35 from the team members fundraising campaign for bank fees.
