My Missions Journey:

When I was 16 years old I went on my first mission trip; after that trip I knew that part of God's plan for my life would be international missions. I didn't know exactly what it would look like, but I knew that my calling was to help kids get closer to God; and that traveling would be a part of that calling.

When I was 19 I decided I was going to be a missionary. As a first step I applied and was accepted to a program that was basically missionary school/training. One month before I was set to leave, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. The doctors told me that spending extended periods of time working in developing countries was not an option for me, and that if my condition had gone undiagnosed for a few more weeks I may have ended up dead or in a coma. Going to my mission school and becoming a missionary did not happen, and after that first specialist appointment we were unsure when or if it would be safe to do international missions at all, even for short term trips.

When I was 23 we decided that I was ready for a short term mission trip. I felt a connection to SOZO Children in Africa and a deep desire to go be a part of what this organization is doing for orphaned children and impoverished families in Uganda. But that was in 2020, and we all know how 2020 went, so the trip was canceled.

Now, I finally have the amazing opportunity to travel to Uganda with SOZO Children! I can’t wait to see how God is able to use me to impact these children and families, and how He uses them to impact me too. I truly believe that being a part of this trip will be life changing and is a part of God’s plan for me and my life.

If you are willing and able to support me with this experience, there are a few ways to do it! Firstly, please pray for me and the rest of our team both as we prepare to go, and while we are there. Secondly, if you are able to, please donate to my trip fees. Also, please pray for my health and for wisdom as I navigate managing diabetes while serving people in this type of environment.

Thank you for any and every way that you choose to support me.

- Angel
